• The Security Architecture of the OSI Reference Model (ISO 7498-2) considers five main classes of security services: authentication, access control, confidentiality, integrity and non-repudiation. These services are defined as follows: The authentication service verifies the supposed identity of a user or a system.
• In addition, the author examined security best practices, through the exploration of both current technology standards and security standards such as the Open Standards Interconnect (OSI) security model 7498-2 and the International Standards Organisation (ISO) 17799 security standard. Finally, the Billing4Rent case study enabled.
